Anin Alsawari

About This Project

The poet’s very first collection of poetry (written in Classical Arabic) was published in July 1969, by Dar Al-Ilm Lil-Millain in Beirut, in three thousand copies (160 pages).

Most of the collection’s poems deal with the experience of the Arab person in Bahrain and in the Gulf during the time of maritime feudalism that prevailed in the region in the period of pearl diving. The poet used this historical experience that the region experienced as an artistic projection onto the present, which is experiencing the same alienation but with more advanced tools. Thus, the collection expressed human qualms in a harmonious mixture. The covers of the editions were designed by Bahraini artists Abdullah Al-Muharraqi and Abdullah Yousef. The collection was reissued in three editions, the last of which was in 1994 by Dar Al-Ghad for Publishing and Distribution in Bahrain.
